Description

Tinday, a young Black man in the antebellum South, first meets the mysterious Mr. Enoch at auction, where Mr. Enoch purchases Tinday and several other slaves -- only to grant them freedom and papers a couple days later. Tinday is immediately suspicious. "What fool White man buys a bunch of Negroes just to set them loose?" he wonders. But Mr. Enoch is no ordinary White man. He immediately offers Tinday and the rest honest employment with pay, an education, as well as a chance to learn a trade. Soon Tinday and a few others are enlisted to help Mr. Enoch in his righteous mission to build a special foolproof hiding place for passengers on the Underground Railroad, except this hiding place has a twist.
