After Lillian Ruby proposes, David Grove quits his job in Northwest Woods and moves to the Crescent. As he acclimates to Crescent society, he meets Allison Flowers at her older sister's birthday party. Lillian suggests David be an "older brother" to Allison, who has just lost her father.
