Description
Graupel, a lesser-known form of precipitation, is created when supercooled water droplets freeze onto snowflakes. Unlike delicate snowflakes, graupel is a soft, white, pellet-like structure with a spongy texture. Graupel falls during winter storms, contributing to slippery conditions and accumulating quickly. Though it may not be as noticeable as other weather events, it plays an important role in the water cycle. Comparable works include A book or article explaining other weather phenomena like hail or snow, or a book about the water cycle.
