IRON SPEED A CW/DC–Marvel Crossover Story Prologue — The Boy Who Built the Future Anthony Edward Stark was never an ordinary kid. When other children were learning how to ride bicycles, Tony was taking apart the bicycle to figure out why the gears worked. When he was six, he dismantled one of his father’s expensive radios. When Howard Stark found him sitting on the floor surrounded by wires and tiny screws, Tony didn’t even look guilty. He looked fascinated. “I wanted to see how it worked.” Howard stared at the destroyed radio. “You could have just asked.” Tony shrugged. “That would’ve taken longer.” Howard couldn’t help but smile. Tony had inherited more than his father’s intelligence. He had inherited his curiosity. And Howard Stark knew exactly where that curiosity could lead. ⸻ Chapter One — The Youngest Man in the Room By seventeen, Tony had already accomplished what most people spent decades trying to achieve. He had been accepted into Harvard University. He was younger than nearly everyone around him, but Tony didn’t care. Harvard wasn’t intimidating… It was interesting. Tony spent his days studying engineering, physics, computer science, and anything else that caught his attention. Professors quickly learned something about him: Tony didn’t simply want to know what something did. He wanted to know why. And if he didn’t like the answer? He built something better. By eighteen, Tony was already working on experimental energy systems. By nineteen, he was helping design technology that would eventually become part of Stark Industries’ next generation. And by twenty, Tony was beginning to understand the enormous shadow his father had left behind. Howard Stark’s name was everywhere. Stark Industries. Stark technology. Star legacy. Everyone expected Tony to become the next Howard. Tony hated that. Because Tony didn’t want to become Howard Stark. He wanted to become Tony Stark. ⸻ Chapter Two — The Heir At twenty-one, Tony officially stepped into Stark Industries. The board expected a reckless kid. Instead, they got a genius. Tony walked into meetings wearing black long-sleeve shirts, black pants, and thin rectangular glasses. He looked younger than everyone sitting across the table. But once he started talking? Nobody underestimated him twice. Tony spent the next few years pushing Stark Industries toward technologies his father had never imagined. Energy storage. Artificial intelligence. Nanotechnology. Advanced materials. He wasn’t simply maintaining Howard’s legacy. He was rewriting it. But Tony’s life had begun to become lonely. He had everything. Money. Intelligence. A company. A future. Yet something was missing. Tony wanted to build something impossible. He just didn’t know what that something was. Until the man in yellow arrived. ⸻ Chapter Three — The Man Who Shouldn’t Exist Tony was working late one night. The Stark Industries building was almost completely empty. Tony stood over a holographic display, adjusting the design of an experimental nanotechnology system. “Come on…” The numbers weren’t working. Tony rubbed his eyes. Then he heard something. Whoosh. Tony looked around. Nothing. He adjusted his glasses. “Okay…” Another sound. WHOOSH. Tony turned. A man in a yellow suit was standing across the laboratory. Tony froze. The stranger’s eyes glowed red. Tony slowly reached toward the emergency controls. “You know, most people use doors.” The man smiled. “I’m not most people.” Tony studied him. “Clearly.” The stranger introduced himself as Eobard Thawne. Tony didn’t recognize the name. That made Thawne smile. Because that was exactly what he wanted. Thawne explained that Tony’s universe wasn’t the only universe. There were countless Earths. And somewhere beyond Tony’s understanding was a world where people could run faster than light. A world where a man named Barry Allen had become the Flash. Tony laughed. “You’re telling me superheroes are real?” Thawne stepped closer. “I’m telling you that you could become something far more interesting.” Tony’s smile disappeared. “And what exactly do you want?” Thawne looked at him. “Barry Allen.” ⸻ Chapter Four — Another Earth Tony barely had time to react. The room exploded with yellow lightning. The world disappeared. When Tony opened his eyes, he was standing somewhere completely unfamiliar. Different buildings. Different skyline. Different technology. Thawne stood beside him. “Welcome to my Earth.” Tony looked around. “Where are we?” “Central City.” Tony stared at him. “Central City?” Thawne smiled. “You wanted impossible.” ⸻ Chapter Five — Damien Darhk Tony’s introduction to his new world didn’t last long. Thawne took him to a hidden facility. Waiting inside was Damien Darhk. Tony immediately disliked him. Darhk immediately disliked Tony. Which meant, naturally, they worked extremely well together. Darhk showed Tony something impossible. A fragment of material. Tony picked it up. His expression changed. “What is this?” “Something from the future.” Tony examined it. It wasn’t exactly metal. It wasn’t exactly synthetic. It behaved like both. It could change its molecular structure. It could conduct energy. It could withstand incredible forces. Tony stared at Darhk. “Where did you get this?” Darhk smiled. “I went looking.” Tony realized something. This wasn’t just advanced technology. This was technology that didn’t exist yet. And Darhk had brought it back from the far future. ⸻ Chapter Six — The Armor Tony spent weeks designing. Darhk supplied the futuristic synthetic material. Thawne supplied something far more dangerous. Negative Speed Force energy. Together, they built something unlike anything either universe had ever seen. The armor wasn’t bulky. It wasn’t a traditional Iron Man suit. It was designed like a speedster suit. Flexible. Light. Aerodynamic. But beneath its surface was futuristic synthetic metal capable of reshaping itself. The colors were unmistakable: Yellow. Red. Black. A tribute to the man Tony was being created to destroy. The Reverse-Flash. At the center of the chest was a black-and-red emblem. Behind it sat the heart of the armor. A new Arc Reactor. But this wasn’t Tony’s original technology. This reactor contained something far more dangerous. Negative Speed Force energy. ⸻ Chapter Seven — The Lightning Tony stood in the center of the laboratory. The unfinished armor surrounded him. Darhk connected the final components. Tony looked down at the reactor. “So what’s supposed to happen now?” Thawne smiled. “You become faster.” Tony raised an eyebrow. “That’s your entire explanation?” Thawne stepped backward. Yellow lightning began crawling across his body. Tony’s expression changed. “Wait.” Thawne raised his hand. BOOM! A massive bolt of lightning shot from Thawne and struck Tony directly in the chest. The Arc Reactor absorbed it. For one second— nothing happened. Then the reactor exploded with red light. Tony screamed as Negative Speed Force energy surged through the reactor and connected with his body. Red energy raced through his veins. The laboratory shook. The lights shattered. Tony dropped to one knee. Then he looked up. His eyes were glowing faintly red. He could hear everything. Every machine. Every electrical current. Every heartbeat. And then— he heard Thawne. “Get up.” Tony slowly stood. The reactor pulsed. THUMP. Tony felt something inside him. Something impossibly fast. Something angry. Something alive. The Negative Speed Force had connected with him. ⸻ Chapter Eight — The Mark L Tony touched the reactor. Nothing. He double-tapped it. Tap. Tap. The armor activated. Tiny pieces of synthetic nanotechnology exploded outward from the reactor and raced across Tony’s body. His legs formed first. Then his arms. Then his torso. The yellow synthetic metal wrapped around him. Black sections formed around the joints. Red energy lines appeared throughout the armor. Finally, the helmet formed around his head. The black-and-red emblem on his chest ignited. 🔴⚡ Tony looked at himself. Then he smiled. “Okay…” He clenched his fist. “That’s pretty cool.” Thawne smiled. “Now run.” Tony disappeared. ⸻ Chapter Nine — The Unknown Speedster Central City had a new problem. Barry Allen was the first to notice. A mysterious figure had appeared downtown. Yellow. Red. Black. Moving faster than almost anyone Barry had encountered. But something was wrong. The speedster wasn’t running like Barry. His movements were different. His energy readings were different. And the armor… The armor didn’t make sense. At STAR Labs, Barry, Iris, Chester, Allegra, Caitlin, and Cecile watched the footage. Chester stared at the screen. “Okay… what am I looking at?” Barry shook his head. “I don’t know.” Chester zoomed in. “That armor is changing.” Allegra frowned. “Changing?” “Yeah. Look.” The armor shifted around the speedster’s arm. “It’s not traditional armor.” Barry stared at the screen. “Can you identify the material?” Chester shook his head. “Not even remotely.” Caitlin examined the readings. “There’s a massive energy signature coming from the chest.” Barry looked closer. A black-and-red emblem glowed in the center. “Speed Force?” Caitlin shook her head. “No.” Cecile suddenly looked uneasy. “There’s something wrong with him.” Everyone turned. “What?” Cecile closed her eyes. She could feel something coming from the mysterious speedster. Anger. Excitement. And something darker. “He’s enjoying this.” ⸻ Chapter Ten — First Encounter Barry finally confronted him. The mysterious speedster stood in the middle of an empty street. Barry arrived in a burst of lightning. “Who are you?” The armored figure slowly turned. Tony smiled beneath his helmet. Barry couldn’t see it. “You first.” Barry frowned. “I’m not the one causing problems.” Tony looked at him. “No.” The reactor began glowing brighter. “You’re just the one I’m here for.” Red lightning erupted around Tony. Barry’s eyes widened. BOOM! Tony vanished. Barry took off after him. The two speedsters raced through Central City. But Barry quickly realized something. This wasn’t simply another speedster. Tony’s armor was adapting. Every time Barry changed direction, the armor compensated. Every time Barry increased speed, Tony’s systems adjusted. And Tony was learning. Fast. Too fast. Barry finally stopped. The mysterious speedster stopped several feet away. Tony looked back. “You’re fast.” Barry narrowed his eyes. “Who are you?” Tony tilted his head. “You’ll figure it out.” Then he disappeared. ⸻ Chapter Eleven — The Secret Back at STAR Labs, Team Flash worked desperately to identify their enemy. Chester couldn’t identify the material. Caitlin couldn’t identify the energy source. Allegra couldn’t track the electromagnetic signature. Cecile couldn’t get close enough to read the man’s mind. And Barry had no idea who he was. They didn’t know his name. They didn’t know his origin. They didn’t know his face. They didn’t even know if he was human. The only thing they knew was his armor. And the red-and-black emblem. Meanwhile, hundreds of miles away, Tony removed the helmet. He stood in front of a mirror. Black shirt. Black pants. Thin rectangular glasses. Messy hair. He looked like an ordinary young man. Nobody would ever suspect that this was the mysterious speedster attacking Central City. Tony looked at his reflection. Then smiled. “Let’s see how long it takes them.” ⸻ Chapter Twelve — The Game Reverse-Flash had gotten exactly what he wanted. Barry was confused. Team Flash was searching for answers. And Tony was getting faster. But Thawne had made one mistake. He had given Tony Stark access to technology that could evolve. Every battle made Tony smarter. Every fight taught him something. Every second connected to the Negative Speed Force gave him more understanding. Tony wasn’t simply becoming a weapon. He was becoming something Thawne couldn’t completely control. Because Tony Stark had never been good at being controlled. And somewhere inside the armor, behind the red reactor, behind the Negative Speed Force… Tony Stark was still Tony Stark. The genius. The inventor. The heir. The man who wanted to build something impossible. Except now… He had built it. And Central City was about to find out exactly what happens when Tony Stark learns how to run.
